Neighborhood

With over 12,000 residents from around the country and the world, Cambridgeport is one of the most densely populated and diverse areas of the city. It is nestled between MIT to the east, Harvard to the west, Charles River to the south and Massachusetts Avenue/Central Square to the north.

Central Square is considered the city’s downtown area and is home to City Hall, the main post office and all forms of public transportation. It’s a vibrant commercial district featuring lots of options for dining, shopping and entertainment.

Cambridgeport is an increasingly popular neighborhood, especially with young professionals and academics (over 60% of residents are between the ages of 18 and 44). It features leafy streets lined with old Victorians, triple-deckers, loft condos and many parks, playgrounds, churches and community centers. Continuous development of all types (retail, residential, business and institutional) broadens the richness and appeal of Cambridgeport and the wonderfully progressive city of Cambridge.
